Celebrity Apprentice and Trump
I assure you that this blog isn't going to become primarily about reality shows but I find, now that I am working from home, that I watch more of them and tend to get into a ritual of certain shows on certain nights.
Since I am now a bit of an entrepreneur in addition to my writing I watch the Celebrity Apprentice on a regular basis. To be honest, a lot of the infighting and pomposity becomes tiring, plus the hypocrisy and ass kissing of Trump is ridiculous.
To me, the name Trump doesn't evoke the image of class and sophistication, instead it brings to mind a high dollar used car salesman.
For instance, on last night's show LaToya Jackson was fired, not because she had not performed well on the task but because some of the others ganged up on her and Trump didn't want to cut the villain, Star Jones. His stated reason was he wanted to give the women's team a chance, which was BS for so many reasons. But the others just nodded and agreed that he was wise and the show moves on.
What I have noticed about Trump is that he has an ego that is probably the largest I have seen, and if you knew how I used to be you would know that was saying something.
The show last night started with him quizzing the contestants on whether or not they would vote for him for President, which is probably pushing the edge of what the election rules allow and could result in NBC having to give time to other presidential hopefuls, but that's another topic for another day and another blog.
However, I noticed today that Trump is now "feuding" with Robert DeNiro about some remarks DeNiro made in an interview. Trump's handlers, or possibly Trump himself, needs to realize that the old maxim "any publicity is good publicity" isn't always true. In the past few weeks Trump has thrown insults at reporters, Seinfeld, DeNiro, and anyone who disagrees with him or makes any remarks about him.
To be presidential you have to learn not only that you are not the most important person in existence and stop believing the brown nosing remarks of your toadies, but also that you can't fight a battle every time someone makes a bad comment about you.
Donald, the press eats up your BS because it's an easy story, not because they think you are particularly smart or a real presidential contender. We watch your show because the contestants and the situations are occasionally entertaining, the least entertaining part is you.
