Update on Publishing for Kindle and Nook
I just put my next book, actually one I wrote a while back but just published, on Amazon.com and BarnesAndNoble.com. The title of the book is Junebug and the Body and is a comedic mystery set in a small Southern town.
Interestingly, this time B&N's PubIt (once again, I hate that name) had the book online before Amazon did. I assume the massive delay that I experienced the first time is only with setting up an account, so I'd say the edge goes to PubIt in the quickness with which the eBooks are published as well as the ease of publishing, since it does all the formatting online.
It was much faster to publish this time than the first time through and only took a few minutes.
A TIP: When publishing on B&N the error messages appear in red in a very small font located at the top of the page. This resulted in me publishing without my cover art since they have a limit on how many pixels the art can be and mine was slightly larger than that. It's my fault that I missed it, but B & N may want to look at putting the error message next to the area that has the problems, next to the button where you save and publish, or at least making it much much larger so it is noticeable.
Watch for an upcoming entry on self-publishing print copies using CreateSpace, either an Amazon company or one closely affiliated. We are working through that process right now.
